Wendy! How can I tell if someone is a genuine healer? I have a long term and serious health condition and would like to see a spiritual healer but there are so many in the marketplace all offering the same thing. How do I choose? Are qualifications important? DL
Hello DL,
This is a question that many people ask themselves but when you speak to a healer for an initial telephone consultation - which should be free of charge - you need to ask them 'how does your healing differ from others? How do I know if it will work?
A good healer will suggest you visit a qualified doctor and have any necessary tests.
A good healer will never make any promises that they can heal you (I have heard of healers who have stated they can heal genetic illness!).
A good healer is attentive, thoughtful, kind, considerate and patient.
A good healer will be aware of any financial problems their client might be experiencing and many offer healing for a donation or at low cost.
A good healer concentrates entirely on you and your needs. Beware of the self serving healer who is all rapped up in themself and advertises or promotes in a highly pressuring way. If they are focused on their own ego, needs, desires and beliefs during the healing process, talking about themselves rather than offering themselves whole-heartedly to you and your situation, without thinking about themselves, they are fooling themselves and you.
A good healer is calm and centred, can be quiet and not talk all the time unless you want to speak.
A good healer might be gifted but I think that qualifications are necessary because everyone needs to know the law (never touch someone in a place usually covered by clothes, etc.,), whether insurance is necessary, etc., many healers belong to associations which oversee complaints. My advice is to shop around, speaking to a few on the telephone prior to visiting. Friends can also be useful sources of recommendations but if someone has a good experience with a healer, it is no guarantee everyone will. It's horses for courses and I wish you well in your search and I hope you health needs are relieved.
