Book Review: Spiritual Medicine - 7 Spiritual Potions to Heal Your Life by Cissi Williams published by O Books
I am interested in all spiritual subjects and the first section of 'Spiritual Medicine' intrigued me and I was eager to read on. The book begins with a fascinating account of how Cissi Williams handled a rock-bottom depression after a marriage engagement had been called off. She contemplated taking her own life at this time. Her instinct was to return to Stockholm and there she met the man who was to become her husband. Cissi now enjoys a very successful career in complementary medicine and writing.
During her meditations, Cissi repeats a prayer of Theresa of Avilla and this opens her third eye which enabled her to channel the ideas for her book.
Cissi explains how our thought patterns become our default way of thinking. We also react egotistically and cannot stop ourselves; we are not even aware that the ego is responsible for judgments, criticisms and even when we are anxious. The ego comes into play when we criticise other people because what we are saying is that we are better than the person we have criticised. “It is only an illusion that seems real as long as you believe in fear, as long as you identify yourself with a body, as long as you have forgotten that you are in truth an eternal divine being who can never die ….”
Amongst other things, the ego drains our energy with its potential for causing illness. It doesn’t occur to most people that it’s possible to change to a better way of being, “connecting more fully with the divine light within us” with the potential to improve our lives dramatically. In Spiritual Medicine Cissi explains how this transformation is possible.
She also explains in more detail - and thus makes clearer - certain aspects of the ego that I’ve read about in articles and quotations. On a personal level, I feel that the time is right for me to take on board the wisdom held within the pages of this excellent book, a wisdom that is intended for Cissi to share in these times of spiritual growth.
Cissi is a NLP trainer, spiritual coach and a master hypnosis practitioner. She is also a qualified Osteopath and Naturopath practitioner and specialises in Paediatric Osteopathy and Cranial Osteopathy. She lives in Stockholm where she has a private practice and runs courses. Her other book is the 'Well-Being Handbook', published by Findhorn Press 2005. She is the co-founder of the Swedish Inspire Magazine; a Body, Mind and Spirit Guide to Well-Being. Reviewer: Valerie Thorley.
